Sparkles, Snow, Santa… or Something More?
The air is alive with celebration. But, let’s be honest, this excitement doesn’t start and end today. It builds for days, even weeks beforehand. Candles flicker, turkeys roast, chickens sizzle, wine flows, the beauty of flowers fills our spaces, trees are decorated, lights twinkle, gifts are wrapped with care, smiles light up faces, cosy pyjamas become uniforms. Cameras capture memories against backdrops of red, green, gold, white, and sometimes snow. And let’s not forget Santa—the icon of holiday cheer.
People throw themselves into the hustle and bustle, setting everything just right. If you ask them why, you’ll hear a range of answers: “It’s tradition.” “It’s a time to show love and share joy.” “It’s a time to feast and laugh with family.” “It’s a time to sing, dance, and be jolly.”
Yes, it is a wonderful season to spread love, cheer, and kindness. But let’s take a moment to reflect on the deeper reason behind all this. The heart of this season isn’t just about the celebration—it’s about the miracle that inspires it.
This is the day we remember that we, who once walked in darkness, have been offered a great light. Today we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. He came into the world to bring hope, salvation, and life eternal. Through Him, we are no longer lost in the shadows; through Him, we are called children of God. This is the true miracle, the heart of the season—What an incredible reason to rejoice!
So, let’s not lose sight of the message amidst the merriment. Don’t let the decorations, meals, and traditions—beautiful as they are—overshadow the true gift of this day. Celebrate, yes. But celebrate with purpose. Don’t get so caught up in the beauty of the container that you forget the priceless treasure within.
Rejoice, for our Savior is here! That’s the greatest reason for this season.
If you would like to experience peace, joy, and freedom that can only come from Him, please say the prayer below:
“Lord Jesus, I accept that you died for my sins and rose on the 3rd day for me to be saved. Please come into my life and be my lord in Jesus’ name. Amen. “
